Fibroids- Causes and Treatments
07 26th, 2010 Author: admin
Fibroids are benign, otherwise known as non-cancerous, and are the most common growths in a woman’s reproductive system. It is interesting to note that most women experience no symptoms and may not be aware they have fibroids, however if you think you have fibroid problems always consult you doctor or medical professional.
Fibroids are also common in women who suffer from inflammatory conditions. By reducing the inflammation within the body, at times the size of fibroids can be shrunk. Food containing natural anti-inflammatory properties such as hops, oats, cumin and rosemary are particularly effective on this score.
Fibroids are normally not life threatening. It is not a dangerous condition which calls for immediate cure. All this is true provided you are close to the menopause or your fibroids are not causing any problems.
However if you have large fibroids, it can cause unpleasant, uncomfortable symptoms such as heavy bleeding, anemia, bloating, bowel and bladder problems and even breathlessness. In such a case you must look for swift treatment for uterine fibroids.
If not, try eliminating the other substance and see if this has an effect on your symptoms. In case neither of these have any impact, you can safely conclude that caffeine and alcohol are not the probable causes of your fibroids.
Since caffeine and alcohol do not affect everyone in the same way, you can start by giving up one of the substances for 6 to 8 weeks. In case there is a visible reduction in pain and bleeding you may have identified the cause of your fibroids.
Causes
The growth of fibroids is fueled by estrogen. Fibroids often first appear during pregnancy, when a woman’s body produces enormous quantities of estrogen, and disappear during menopause, when estrogen production is greatly decreased. The hormone progesterone also plays a role in the growth of fibroids.
Through this journey, I have met women who are adamant that they do not want to go through the traumas of undergoing a hysterectomy operation and the side effects that they are faced with. I truly want to continue making women realize that they can change their life around by shrinking their fibroids and living a healthier life.
The risk factors for fibroids are high estrogen levels, such as the use of high-estrogen oral contraceptives, use of estrogen replacement therapy, or overweight. Poor circulation does not accelerate the formation of fibroids, but it can make existing fibroids intensely painful.

Treatments
A change in diet is one of the most effective ways to counter attack ovarian fibroids, since eating foods that are high in fibre and low in sugar can, within a relatively short period of time, help to alleviate pressure on the abdomen and pelvic area and also lower the blood sugar level, which can play havoc with hormones and completely wreck a woman’s menstrual cycle.
To do this, understand how fibroids grow, and once that has been established, try and control your estrogen dominance. There are two types of estrogen, it can be naturally attained if there is not enough progesterone in the body so you produce more estrogen or you can attain estrogen by eating certain foods i.e.
Once we have been able to deal with the causes and have been able to lower the estrogen level by no longer taking the contraceptive pill, no longer eating certain foods, it will help reduce the size of your fibroids.
Being diagnosed with fibroids I have been blessed with learning so much about eating raw foods, sprouting, organic, juicing and an abundance of other healthy options that I am praying daily that through this website, I can continue changing lots of womens lives, letting them find their way of changing the way they eat and they can in turn look and feel healthier than ever before.
Although fibroids have been a nuisance and causes umpteen problems to women worldwide and has done for many many years, if women were more knowledgeable and understood the causes of fibroids and were interested in finding the root cause of fibroids, they would be able to control their symptoms once they knew how to combat the cause.
To date, I have reduced my fibroids, I am very healthy I eat sensibly, I exercise frequently, I know I can live longer than I would have had I continued to eat the way I had always eaten and I am happier within myself knowing that I no longer am damaging my organs and making them work harder than need be.

What are Fibroids ?
Fibroids are benign tumors that originate in the uterus (womb). Although they are composed of the Isame smooth muscle fibers as the uterine wall (myometrium), they are many times denser than normal myometrium. Uterine fibroids are usually round or semi-round in shape.
Fibroids are often described based upon their location within the uterus. Subserosal fibroids are located beneath the serosa (the lining membrane on the outside of the organ). These often appear localized on the outside surface of the uterus or may be attached to the outside surface by a pedicle. Submucosal (submucous) fibroids are located inside the uterine cavity beneath the lining of the uterus. Intramural fibroids are located within the muscular wall of the uterus.Once diagnosed with fibroids it is advisable to find a holistic method to Cure Fibroids Naturally.
Why do women develop fibroids and how common are they?
The exact cause of why women develop these tumors is still not known. Genetic abnormalities, alterations in growth factor (proteins formed in the body that direct the rate and extent of cell proliferation) expression, abnormalities in the vascular (blood vessel) system, and tissue response to injury have all been suggested to play a role in the development of fibroids.
Family history is a key factor, since there is often a history of fibroids developing in women of the same family. Race also appears to play a role. Women of African descent are two to three times more likely to develop fibroids than women of other races. Pregnancy and taking oral contraceptives both decrease the likelihood that fibroids will develop. Fibroids have not been observed in girls who have not reached puberty, but adolescent girls may rarely develop fibroids.
Overall, these tumors are fairly common and occur in up to 50% of all women. Most of the time, uterine fibroids do not cause symptoms or problems, and a woman with a fibroid is usually unaware of its presence.
Do Untreated Uterine Fibroids pose a risk ?
For the most part, uterine fibroids that do not cause a problem for the woman can be left alone. In some cases, even fibroids that are not causing symptoms require removal or at least close observation. Rapid growth is a reason to watch more carefully, since a rare cancerous form of fibroid (referred to as a leiomyosarcoma) is usually a fast-growing tumor, and it cannot be differentiated from a benign fibroid by ultrasound, MRI , or other imaging studies. However, this type of tumor occurs in less than 1% of uterine fibroids. Another risk of leaving these tumors alone is that they sometimes grow to a size that eventually cause significant symptoms, thus requiring removal. If fibroids grow large enough, the surgery to remove them can become more difficult and risky. Occasionally, fibroids are the cause of recurrent miscarriages. If they are not removed in these cases, the woman may not be able to sustain a pregnancy.
